Sustainable Seafood Solutions
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is an international non-profit founded in 1997 to promote sustainable fishing practices. Through eco-label certification and traceability programs, MSC enables foodservice buyers to source seafood that is caught using methods that ensure healthy fish stocks and minimal environmental impact for years to come.
MSC works with fisheries, seafood companies, scientists, conservation groups and the public to define standards for sustainable fishing. Fisheries that demonstrate they meet these science-based standards are certified as sustainable. This rigorous process covers impacts on target fish stocks as well as other species and marine ecosystems.
With over 500 MSC-certified sustainable seafood options available globally, including many popular foodservice species like Alaska pollock, Atlantic cod and skipjack tuna, MSC makes it easy for chefs and other buyers to serve ocean-friendly menu items. Tracing certified seafood from boat to plate is possible thanks to MSC's comprehensive chain of custody program.
